Eating and drinking in Italy is high on the list of every person’s daily life. Yes, one could almost say that eating together is almost a celebration in Italian families. On Sundays and holidays, but especially on celebrations and special days, the meal can last 4-5 hours. Numerous specialties have also established themselves in this country and throughout Europe, including overseas. Just think of pizza, spaghetti or ice cream. Italian cheeses such as mozzarella or mascarpone can be found in markets, as can mortadella. Everyone loves Italian cuisine! We will show you some national dishes from the Italian kitchen. Italian cuisine inspires with unusual recipes for starters, pizza and pasta or meat dishes.
The further south you go, the more real the Italian cuisine is. The tomato plays a key part here: it can be found in sauces, as a topping, added to vegetables or in salads. Fish and seafood are on the table near the coast. Because of the great heat, there is very little pork and minced meat in the very south, as this spoils quickly. Rather, poultry and lamb are preferred. First and foremost, however, Italian food here means lots of vegetables such as aubergines.
The most famous Italian dish of this area is the pizza. From Napoli, the filled flatbread, which was once a poor man’s meal, has spread all over the world. In the east, in Abruzzo, people like to eat grilled lamb skewers. Italian dishes from families are fried zucchini blossoms, whole fried anchovies for example.

Your creativity knows no bounds!
